PURPOSE:To improve follow-up characteristics of ship-speed measurement by comparing a detected value obtained from a ship speed sensor with a value after filtering and varying a filtering constant on the basis of the comparison result. CONSTITUTION:An input voltage vi from a ship speed sensor 2 is converted by a ship speed arithmetic part 7 into an input ship speed vraw. This ship speed vraw is filtered by a filter part 8 and outputted as a smoothed ship speed vn. The ship speed is displayed and outputted as a ship speed indication value thetato a ship speed display part 9, where the ship speed is displayed. Then, the ship speed difference DELTAv is calculated by a ship speed difference arithmetic part 11 from the ship speed vraw and vn and a comparing part 13 compares a comparative ship speed value set by a comparative ship speed setting part 12 with the difference DELTAv. The comparison result is outputted to a filter constant determining part 14 to determine a filter constant 1/N. This determined 1/N is fed back to the filter part 8. Thus, the filter constant is varied automatically according to the state of the input ship speed to display the ship speed, thereby improving the follow-up characteristics.
