PURPOSE:To enhance light and the stability and carrier generating ability by forming a photosensitive layer containing a specified azo pigment on a coating solution on a conductive substrate. CONSTITUTION:The photosensitive body contains as an effective component of the electrophotographic sensitive one of the azo pigments represented by formula I in which A is a heterocyclic group, B is H, halogen, cyano, or the like, and Cp is a coupler resideu. The photosensitive body is prepared by coating the conductive substrate with a coating fluid obtained by dissolving or dispersing this pigment in a proper solvent, embodied by basis solvents dissolving tetraquisazo pigment, such as n-butylamine or ethylenediamine, and ethers, such as tetrahydrofuran and 1, 4-dioxane, and drying it to form a usually 0.1- several ten mum thick photosensitive layer. Said azo pigment has a particle diameter of <=5mum, preferably, <=3mum, and a binder is used usually in an amt. of 0.1-5 times the weight of the azo pigment, thus permitting heat and light stability and carrier generating ability to be enhanced. |
