The invention relates to an appliance for the cutting of silage blocks from a silage stock, consisting of a vertical post, at the foot of which a carrier rake projects approximately horizontally outwards, and of a U-shaped frame which is mounted on the post so as to be movable up and down and projects forwards above the carrier rake and on the two side legs of which and on the front middle leg connecting these a cutting knife moving to and fro is guided respectively in the region of the frame lower edge, the frame consisting of three individual flat legs which are screwed to one another.
