PURPOSE:To enable a turbine rotor to be rotated at high speed, by providing a compressive residual stress on the surface around the central hole of the rotor. CONSTITUTION:In the parts of stages L-0, L-1, L-2, and L-3 in the central hole 4 of a rotor 1, a central hole 8 having a diameter slightly smaller then that of the central hole 4 is formed. a roller shaft 9 is inserted into it from the end surface of the rotor 1. A hardfaced roller 10 is provided on the end of the roller shaft 9, and by this roller 10 the central hole 8 is compressively deformed toward the outer circumferential side. Thus, the tangential stress on the surface of the central hole is reduced, and the rotor can be rotated at high speed.
