[Also in Division H2] A wedge-shaped member B<SP>1</SP> may be driven into a C-shaped member (A) (Fig. 1, not shown) to clamp two cables, by means of a further wedge 60 having an aperture to receive a cartridge case 62 which carries a propellant explosive charge 64 and an internal plug 66. The plug 66 contains a percussion cap 68, and a firing-pin 70 extends towards the cap 68. To fire the explosive charge a ram 72 is driven down the case 62 and the gases liberated by the burning of the charge drive the wedge 60 to the left. In a second embodiment (Fig. 8, not shown), the wedge member B<SP>1</SP> and wedge 60 may be combined as a single member which carries the charge. |
