The invention relates to a device for sensing photomagnetic signals, in which there is provided in the path of rays of the light beam reflected from a recording medium, exhibiting magnetically recorded information, an optical element (7) which has a light-beam splitting device which allows through one of the two polarised light beams, which intersect at right angles, and reflects the other polarised light beam, and a path-of-rays transforming device, which emits the light beam reflected by this light-beam splitting device by means of reflection or defraction in substantially the same direction as the light allowed through by the light-beam splitting device, so that the light beam allowed through and the reflective light beam which are emitted by the optical element (7) can be received by a photodetector device (8). <IMAGE>
