Process and device in connection with a machine for automatically selecting sets of thin sheets, for example self-copying paper, the topmost of different types of sheet being separated from underlying sheets by means of blowing members, being lifted by means of suction members 14 from their respective sheet stack 12 and being laid side by side on a continuous belt running past the sheet stacks. This belt moves the sets of sheets which are complete following the passage of the sheet stacks to a distributing unit 17. The suction members 14, when they are applied to the top side of a respective sheet, are moved a short distance away from the blowing members and subsequently lift the sheet over to the belt, via optical members for detecting sheet thickness and the presence of print on the sheet. <IMAGE> |
