PURPOSE:To suppress fluctuation of images caused by temperature difference among recording heads and to enable stable high-quality recording with a simple configuration, by controlling the temperature of the recording head to fall within a specified range of temperature by judging whether or not an actual temperature of the recording head is within a fixed range of temperature, so as to determine the maximum temperature of a plurality of recording heads. CONSTITUTION:Each of the recording heads 3a-3d loads the output signal of a temperature detecting means 4 into a control unit 8 via a conversion amplifier 6 and an A/D converter 7 as the digital data of a current temperature of each head. The data of a maximum temperature is selected in the form of a reference value from the temperature data of each recording head 3a-3d. Recording heads except one having the maximum temperature transmit signals from the control unit 8 to heater drive circuit 9 of the recording head 3 when the temperature is not the same as that of a highest-temperature recording head, or, out of its allowable range, e.g., 5 deg.C or less, thereby driving the heater 5 to heat up; and ends heating when the temperature reaches the allowable range. Accordingly, fluctuation of images caused by temperature difference among the heads is suppressed. |
