Speed sensor for installation in a wheel bearing

In a speed sensor (10), a measuring pickup (11) consisting of a coil former (21), winding (22), pole pin (23) and permanent magnet (27), is inserted into a beaker-shaped housing (12). The connections (15) are arranged cast in plastic in a section (14) of the housing (12). The contacts (16) of the connections (15) project from the plastic into the interior (17) of the housing (12). In order to be able to connect the contacts (30) of the busbars (29) to the contacts (16) of the connections (15), at least one bore (28) is constructed in the housing (12). Furthermore, plastic is pressed in through this bore (28) into the interior (17) of the housing (12), in order to encase at least the contacts (16, 30) in plastic and to seal the bore (28). Because of the installation in the wheel bearing (38), the speed sensor (10) does not need to be hermetically tight. Its design is thus particularly cost-effective. <IMAGE>
