PURPOSE:To reduce the required capacity of a source memory by storing a part of a monotonous repeat pattern in a mapping pattern storage means as a mapping pattern and substituting a prescribed number of upper bits of the mapping address with a constant corresponding to the storage position of the pertinent repeat pattern. CONSTITUTION:A part of the monotonous repeat pattern is stored in a mapping pattern storage means 2 as a mapping pattern, and a prescribed number of upper bits of the read address to the mapping pattern storage means 2 are substituted with the constant corresponding to the storage position of the pertinent repeat pattern by the substituting means 5U and 5V. Consequently, the mapping pattern is accessed a required number of times at the time of texture mapping of a display pattern larger than the mapping pattern. Thus, the repeat pattern is mapped in all of the range of the display pattern, and the storage area of the mapping pattern is reduced. |
