Raised and lowered below the fixed switching chamber of a vacuum switch is a contact bolt (4). A spigot (7) projects freely at the bottom, guided by an opening in a horizontal rail (8). Extending sideways from am enlarged flat part (9) of the bolt is a pair of current carrying blades (51). These grip between them a plate shaped part (53) projecting outwards from the fixed conduct-or rail (6).
