The invention relates to a device generating high power and short duration shocks, which can be mounted, for example, in connection with a debiting, cutting, drilling or riveting machine. According to the invention, the device consists of some electrodes, mounted with sleeves, made of insulating material, and of some nuts that fit in holes made in a curved wall of a cylinder, closed with a lid; between the lid and the cylinder is placed a ring gasket; in the cylinder, in an inner upper clearance, close to the curved wall, are made some holes for water filling and respectively, evacuation of gases from a back chamber, separated from a front chamber, by a piston placed in the cylinder, connected to a rod; the front chamber can be connected to the exterior through a joint, fitted to the cylinder through a hole cut into it; the joint is connected to a distributor which controls the front chamber contact to the exterior and respectively, allows entry of pressured air in it; gas evacuation and, respectively, water entry from/in the back chamber is done through another distributor, controlled by a water sensor in the gas evacuation hole, the piston being provided with a concavity towards the back chamber.
