The automatic multi-spindle lathe described has its mandrels (9) disposed fixed in a circle. A revolving tool drum (4), with matching diameter and tool disposition, is mounted coaxial to the mandrels so that it can be switched in rotation and which can engage its tools (6) simultaneously into the individual mandrels (9), each tool (6) engaging in all the mandrels (9) during a complete rotation of the drum. Associated with each mandrel (9) is a CNC cross-slide (10, 12) which can work the workpiece (7) unimpeded from the outside during the whole of this rotation. Chip removal and operational comfort can be optimized by asymmetric disposition of the mandrels. The drum (4) can also execute intermediate cycles, thus doubling the number of usable tools (6). A robot (17) can also be linked to the lathe. |
