PURPOSE:To provide an inexpensive, easy-to-operate device and to obtain therewith high resolution by making the device workable in such that the laser beams are shed on a thermal transfer sheet which is made of layers formed of lipophilic printing image-forming materials and pigments absorbing near infrared rays. CONSTITUTION:A layer including lipophilic printing image-forming materials is formed on the surface of a thermal transfer sheet 1, and a heating layer including pigments absorbing near infrared rays is formed on the reverse side of the sheet. The thermal transfer sheet 1 is wound with winding rollers. In the middle of the course of the winding, pressure rollers 3 and a laser beam emitting device 4 which emits the laser beams in accordance with image signals are provided, and the images are transferred to a lipophilic printing master base sheet 5. The thermal transfer sheet 1 is made up in such structure that the heating layer 8 including the pigments 7 absorbing the near infrared rays is formed on one side of a base sheet 6, and the opposite side of the base sheet is coated with the lipophilic printing image- forming material 9. With the laser beam shed on the thermal transfer sheet 1 in accordance with the image signals, a part 10 on which the laser beam is shed heats, making the printing image-forming material 11 on that part melt, and by pressing with the pressure rollers 3, the lipophilic printing image-forming material 12 is selectively transferred to the surface of the printing master base sheet 5. |
