PURPOSE:To surely detect the size of a sheet by allowing detecting means which are plurally disposed at specified intervals in the width direction of the sheet on a sheet carrying path to contact or interfere with the sheet. CONSTITUTION:When the sheet is loaded in a cassette 1, the sheet 19 is pushed up to a position shown by a broken line by a paper pressurizing plate 18. In the case that the width of the sheet is <=160mm, a lever 6 is pushed up to a position shown by an alternate long and two short dashes line by the sheet, and an actuator 9 is turned to the position shown by the alternate long and two short dashes line by interlocking with the lever 6, so that it shields light to a photointerrupter 15. Thus, the sheet is detected to be the one whose width is <=160mm. In the case that the width of the sheet is 160-200mm, the actuators 9 and 10 respectively shield the light to the photointerrupters 15 and 16, and in the case that the width of the sheet is >20mm, the actuators 9, 10 and 11 shield the light to the photointerrupters 15, 16 and 17, in the same manner, so that the width of the sheet is detected. In such constitution, a device main body controls a fixing temperature in accordance with the detected size of the sheet. |
