PURPOSE:To achieve optimum heat input conditions by furnishing a main discharge circuit and two or more resonance charger circuits, and thereby providing controllability for the discharge current of a flash lamp of pulse excite laser type. CONSTITUTION:A large capacitance capacitor 2 in parallel connection with a flash lamp 4 is low-voltage charged by a DC charging power supply 1. When rectangular pulses are fed to a switching element 3 in series connection with this flash lamp 4, the electric charges on the capacitor 2 flow into the lamp 4 for the duration corresponding to the pulse width. A the same time, capacitors C1, C2 in resonance charger circuits 5, 6 are resonance charged, when the charging takes place to twice as large as the charge voltage of the capacitor 2. If gate signal is given to switching elements SCR1, SCR2 within the time the element 3 remains closed, electric charges stored on C1 or C2 are released to the lamp 4. Thereby the discharge current waveform of the lamp 4 can be controlled as any desired, and heat input conditions in laser welding, etc., be optimized. |
