Reinforcement assembly at least partly consisting of liquid crystal organic polymer continuous monofilaments, characterized in that: a) diameter Dm of the monofilaments is at least 40 mu m and less than 400 mu m; b) toughness Ta of the assembly is over 80 cN/tex; c) secant modulus in extension Ma of the assembly is over 2000 cN/tex; d) at least one monofilament is substantially helically wound about an axis and the acute angle gamma of each monofilament with said substantially rectilinear axis is less than 30 DEG ; e) the twist of each monofilament on itself is less than 10 turns per metre of assembly. Articles reinforced by means of said assemblies, particularly tyre casings.
