PURPOSE:To obtain a food additive capable of converting cholesterol in a food into a form unabsorbable into living bodies, etc., by using a rice bran ingredient as an active ingredient and thereby forming a cholesterol complex. CONSTITUTION:The objective additive is obtained by using a rice bran ingredient [preferably gamma-oryzanol (gamma-OZ) or an extract] and/or its derivative (e.g. cycloartenol-alpha-methylferulic acid ester) as an active ingredient. The additive, preferably in a liquid state, is added to a food with a high cholesterol content, stirred for 10min to 24hr and sufficiently brought into contact therewith to form a cholesterol complex. |
