Modular insole for articles of footwear with high or low uppers (ankle boots or shoes), characterised in that it is composed: - a first part consisting of a base (7) with the shape of the sole of the foot, made from synthetic material of the polyurethane, PVC or latex type, having, on its upper surface, a striated profile (8), and its lower surface being smooth, this base (7) being perforated with cylindrical holes (28), particularly at several levels, - of a second part consisting of independent studs (9) with a shape identical to that of the holes (28), but wider, and made from the same material as the base (7), so as to be inserted therein (9d) and held elastically therein; these studs (9) are striated on top (9a), smooth underneath (9b), and are hollow, particularly in the shape of an inverted truncated cone (9c), the assembly thus forming an insole which, on being compressed by the weight of the body and by walking, adapts to a profile of the sole of the foot which is variable owing to the choice of densities of the base (7) and of each of the studs (9). <IMAGE>
