FIELD: chemistry. ^ SUBSTANCE: present invention relates to detection and/or quantification method for fluoride (F-) or hydrogen fluoride (HF) in samples, consisting of stages as follows: contact of sample in water solution with silyl group organic compound of predetermined structure for measured solution obtaining; the silyl organic compound being desilylated in presence of hydrofluoric acid or fluoride; the silyl and de-silyl organic compounds can be detected and/or quantified independently; detection and/or quantification of silyl organic compound reduction, or de-silyl organic compound buildup, are made in the same assay solution for fluoride or hydrogen fluoride. Method allows easy and practical detection of fluoride or hydrogen fluoride in the air at level 10 ppb, or in solution at level 0.5-1 mcg/ml of hydrogen fluoride. The appliance in this invention includes components for the analysis implementation. The proposed method allows fluorine detection at level order 0.001 mcg/ml.
