摘要 An optical pickup apparatus is provided to correct spherical aberration which is generated on each optical surface of the apparatus by moving a spherical aberration correcting device in at least one axial direction. An optical pickup apparatus for recording and/or reproducing information with respect to a first optical information recording medium including at least a transparent protective substrate, a first information recording surface, and a second information recording surface which are laminated from a light source side along an optical axis, comprises a spherical aberration correcting device for correcting a spherical aberration caused in a converged spot on the first and second information recording surfaces, the spherical aberration due to a thickness to each recording surface, when at least light flux having a wavelength(lambda1 <= 500nm) is collected on the first and second information recording surfaces. The spherical aberration correcting device is moved in at least one optical axis direction to correct the spherical aberration. The spherical aberration correcting device has a convex lens(4) and concave lens(5,16).
