The actuator (1) has actuator units with bend-proof working elements (4) that are articulately linked to each other by forming a link chain so that the elements are pivoted relative to each other in a working plane. A tension element is actuated by fluid force, and a contraction drive (13) having a contraction hose (24) is formed, where the hose contracts during fluid admission in its interior space. The drive grips the working elements, which covers an element connection at opposite sides, with both end sections of the drive, where the hose passes to a hinge region (6) of the connection.
