The disclosed method comprises a step during which said waste is subjected to pyrolysis, and a step during which the metal obtained during pyrolysis is recovered. The method is characterised in that pyrolysis is carried out in the presence of a cracking catalyst and in conditions in the reactor (1) suitable to cause the plastics forming said waste to be entirely converted into gas, and in that it further includes a step during which said gas is recovered for producing energy and/or recycled material. The reactor is characterised in that it comprises a so-called spouted bed contact system which makes it possible to separate said metal from the bed without the need to extract the catalyst.
