PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a motion converting mechanism that converts the rotational motion of a gear rotating at a non-uniform speed into oscillating motion by a simple mechanism. SOLUTION: The motion converting mechanism is equipped with a movable plate 30 supported that is supported so as to freely oscillate, and a transmission mechanism for oscillating the movable plate 30 so as to reciprocate within a predetermined angle range. The transmission mechanism includes a driving gear 10 that rotates at a uniform speed, and a driven gear 20 engaged with the driving gear 10 to rotate at a non-uniform speed, that is idly fitted to a long groove 32 formed at the movable plate 30, and equipped with a driving pin provided at a position more eccentric than a rotational shaft 22.
