A wavelength division multiplexer and demultiplexer using a planar lightwave circuit are provided to reduce insertion loss and to reduce a production cost by improving a structure thereof. A wavelength division multiplexer and demultiplexer includes a plurality of input slap waveguides connected to a plurality of input waveguides(10), a channel waveguide(30) dispersed according to the diffraction of the incident light, a plurality of output slab waveguides outputted according to a change of phases, and a plurality of output waveguides(50). Input/output slab waveguides(20,40) include taper waveguides for expanding an end of the waveguide, a parabolic horn part having a parabolic shape, and a taper horn part for expanding an end of the parabolic horn part.
