PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the airtightness of an electric double-layer capacitor. SOLUTION: The electric double-layer capacitor comprises a closed-end cylindrical exterior case for storing an electric double-layer capacitor element along with an organic electrolyte, and a resin plate. The electric double-layer capacitor has a hole-sealing plate having elastic rubber on the upper surface of at least a resin plate. The opening of the exterior case is blocked by the resin plate, the open end of the exterior case is subjected to curling machining for biting into the elastic rubber of the sealing plate for sealing, thus composing the electric double-layer capacitor. As the elastic rubber used in this case, butyl rubber having physical properties is used, where expansion Eb in cutting a dumbbell-like specimen is not less than 200%, tensile strength Tb is not more than 8, a compression permanent distortion rate Cs is not less than 17%, and hardness Hs is not more than 80.
