PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To detect a harmful flaws having periodicity more accurately than the conventional art. SOLUTION: Regarding a plurality of coils, addition average image data 43, corresponding to an actual outer peripheral length of a work roll 7a, is selected from among added and averaged image data 43a-43c, obtained by adding a plurality of image data cut in a length determined, based on the outer peripheral length of the work roll 7a, and is stored. When the added and averaged image data 43 as a flaw inspection target is determined, by using average image data I<SB>0</SB>of the addition average image data 43 (I<SB>1</SB>-I<SB>n-1</SB>) in the plurality of coils determined in the past and intrinsic image J<SB>i</SB>of the addition average image data 43 (I<SB>1</SB>-I<SB>n-1</SB>), the added and averaged image data 43 (I<SB>n</SB>) as the flaw inspection target is combined linearly, disturbance noise having periodicity is extracted, and the extracted disturbance noise is reduced.
