METHOD FOR PROVIDING GUI AND ELECTRONIC DEVICE THEREOF

A method for offering a GUI(Graphical User Interface) and an electronic device employing the same are provided to detect movement of a remote control apparatus, thereby allowing a user to output setup information more conveniently. If a front face of a remote controller is rotated by a user, a controller determines whether or not setup information of a DTV is displayed on a display unit based on rotation information of the front surface of the remote controller(S420). If the setup information is displayed, the controller controls a GUI generator to display the setup information of the DTV near a current pointer displayed on the display(S440). If the rotation information of the front surface of the remote controller is not displaying of the setup information display but canceling of the setup information, based on the setup information table, the controller controls the GUI generator to cancel the displaying of the setup information(S460). If the rotation information of the front surface of the remote controller is a general operation, the controller controls the GUI generator to move the pointer to a moving direction of the front surface of the remote controller.
