<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a printing controller using a secondary battery for supplying power necessary for printing operation, controlling operation appropriate according to the charge state or the print data content when the charge amount of the secondary battery is reduced and the display of time until the printing operation is controlled, and a printer equipped with the printing controller. <P>SOLUTION: In the case where the power amount for printing print data is higher than the charge amount of the secondary battery (S7: NO), if the secondary battery is in a state of charging (S13: YES), the power amount necessary for printing is calculated according to the print data and a preset printing condition, and then the charge amount is acquired. On the basis of the above values, a waiting time period until the secondary battery is charged to the capacity of the power enabling the printing of the print data, is calculated (S15), and then the calculated waiting time period is displayed on a liquid crystal display (S16).
