<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image display device capable of achieving high resolution, without having to install an aperture near the liquid crystal layer of an image display element. <P>SOLUTION: An image or an aperture pattern is imaged in an area other than the image display element, and the pixel of the image display element is made to correspond to the aperture on the imaging surface. That is, the image display device includes the image display element where the pixels are arrayed; an imaging optical system to image the light read out from the image display element; and an aperture array (or polarizer array) which is disposed on the imaging surface, where the image is imaged by the imaging optical system, and in which at least one aperture (or polarizer) is arranged for the pixel on the imaging surface. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT</p> |
