PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and server for making it difficult for a malicious third person to construct an authentication screen using image data. SOLUTION: A server receives the registration request data of a password from a user, and transmits a plurality of image data as candidate image data to a terminal. According as the user selects an image, the server stores the selected image data by associating the image data with data to specify the user with the password as registration image data, and excludes the selected image data from the candidate image data. Then, when receiving authentication request data from the user with the data to specify the user and the password, the server transmits the registration image data stored so as to be associated with the data to specify the user to the terminal with the plurality of image data, and according as the user selects the image data, when the selected image data are stored so as to be associated with the data to specify the user as the registration image data, the server completes authentication.
