PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the consumed amount of fuel and the discharged amount of carbon dioxide by easily re-starting an engine without driving hydraulic actuators. SOLUTION: This work machine comprises a hydraulic pump 42 driven by the engine 40, the hydraulic actuators 21, 22, 23, 31, 32, and a capacitor 61 storing a power when a generator-motor 44 operates as a generator and supplying a power when the generator-motor 44 operates as a motor. The hydraulic actuators are operated by operating operation levers 50. 70. The work machine further comprises an idling stop control means 110 for stopping the idling operation of the engine 40 when the requirements for stopping are not satisfied and an engine re-start control means 120 for allowing the re-start of the engine 40 under the conditions that the operation levers 50, 70 are in non-operating conditions when a start instruction is output from an engine re-start switch 77 when the engine 40 is stopped by the idling stop control means 110.
