PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a mailbox by which a closing body of its mail outlet which is slid upward never falls down suddenly and rattling at the time of opening or closing of the closing body of the mail outlet or cast of mails through a dropping slit can be prevented. SOLUTION: The mailbox is provided with a support frame 4 of a mailbox body 1, the closing body 2 for opening and closing a mail outlet of the mailbox body 1 and has right and left guide grooves 5a and 5b. The closing body 2 of the mail outlet has the dropping slit 16 provided with an opening and closing lid 17 and its right and left side ends are attached to the guide grooves 5a and 5b in a vertically slidable manner respectively. One of a groove bottom wall 7 of the guide groove and the side face of the closing body 2 of the mail outlet is provided with steady rests 13a and 13b which are pressure welded to the other. A front side wall 6 of the guide groove and the front of the closing body 2 of the mail outlet are provided with engaging parts 14a and 14b on the guide groove side and engaging parts 12a and 12b on the closing body side respectively which are protruded toward the others and are in a chevron shape inclined from their center toward their sides.
