<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a "video system and video reproducing method" for performing special reproduction by various reproduction speeds. <P>SOLUTION: In performing fast forwarding reproduction at 11. 25X speed (c), a source device 1 transmits an I picture existing in every 15 pictures in a video stream read from a DVD-Video disk 4 so as to make the average of picture transfer period be 4/3 display frame period (c1). A sink device 21 decodes the I picture that has been completely received and performs one-display frame period display.
