PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the packaging reliability of electronic components of which polarity can be recognized. SOLUTION: The electronic component has: a polyhedron-shaped exterior body 6; an electrode 7 provided in one of two opposing end faces in the exterior body 6; and an electrode 8 provided in the other of the two end faces. In the exterior body 6, a recognition pattern 9, which is arranged at a position near one of the electrodes 7, 8, is formed. The exterior body 6 is formed of a light transmissive material.
