<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an automatic detection function for type of paper including at least paper thickness utilized in variable setting of fixed temperature to utilize the result of detection effectively and securely and eliminate waste of time and energy in an image formation process. <P>SOLUTION: A tip part of one paper is fed by predetermined amount by a separation paper feeding means from a paper storage part to detect type of paper by a paper type detection means (S2, S3, S4) at timing prior to paper feeding command (Y of S1) and obtain paper type information before receiving paper feeding command (S11). Proper setting by utilizing paper type information effectively and securely becomes possible concerning image formation process of an image formation means before receiving paper feeding command, thereby eliminating waste of time and energy in the image formation process. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
