A method for preparing a thermoplastic resin composition is provided to realize an improved color so that the thermoplastic resin composition is used as materials for forming various electric and electronic appliances, cars, and parts and case bodies of optical instruments. A method for preparing a thermoplastic resin composition comprises the steps of: melt blending a thermoplastic resin and a neutralizer; and melt blending the resultant blend with a compound represented by the following formula 1. In formula 1, each of the two R1s, two R2s, R4 and R5 is H, C1-C8 alkyl, C5-C8 cycloalkyl, C6-C12 alkylcycloalkyl, C7-C12 aralkyl or phenyl; each of the two R3s is H or a C1-C8 alkyl; X is a single bond, S or -CHR6- group, wherein R6 is H, C1-C8 alkyl or C5-C8 cycloalkyl; A is a C2-C8 alkylene, or *-COR7-, wherein R7 is a single bond or C1-C8 alkylene, and * represents the bond to the oxygen atom of >P-O- moiety; any one of Y and Z is OH, C1-C8 alkoxy, or C7-C12 aralkyloxy, and the other is H or C1-C8 alkyl, with the proviso that when Y is OH, any one of R4 and R5 is a C3-C8 alkyl, C5-C8 cycloalkyl, C6-C12 alkylcycloalkyl, C7-C12 aralkyl or phenyl.
