<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To automatically detect links to expired information. <P>SOLUTION: In a hypertext inspection apparatus, an information collecting means 11 takes the text of each document and link information included in each document from a hypertext database 21 and stores them in an information storage part 22. From the information storage part 22, a condition determining means 13 first extracts the link information containing date expressions in the descriptions of websites providing links and link information where documents with date expressions contained in their text are linked addresses. Next, the condition determining means compares the date expressions with the current date and extracts expired expressions from the documents indicated by the linked addresses in the link information extracted. Then the condition determining means calculates inappropriate scores of the link information on the basis of the result of comparing the date expressions with the current date and the result of extracting the expired expressions.
