PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of discriminating a cause of power transmission line accident which quickly and accurately discriminates a cause of fault of transmission line not depending on the experience or determination by a maintenance person. SOLUTION: The data indicating the conditions of accidents in the past of which cause of power transmission line is know is quantitatively stored. In this case, the accident condition data in the qualitative expression is also quantitatively stored. Next, characteristic of each cause of accident is extracted using a pattern recognition from this qualitative accident condition data. Subsequently, the accident condition data in which the cause of accident is unknown is also qualitatively stored and the accident condition data qualitatively stored using the pattern recognition is used to obtain the cause of accident having the highest similarity reflecting on the characteristic of the previously extracted cause of accident. The cause of accident having the highest similarity obtained is determined as the cause of accident. |
