The conveyor unit has a conveying component (4) with two driven conveyor belts (6) revolving parallel to one another and interconnected by cross bars (8) distributed at intervals over the length of the belts. A conveying apron (10) is installed between the conveyor belts. The conveyor belts on the inner facing sides have recesses (12) in which are fitted side edges (14) of the conveying apron. The conveying apron is connected via the edges to the conveyor belts in the region of the recesses.
