PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To precisely decide a specified image even when a document floats over a document setting surface. SOLUTION: A CPU 51 detects the amount of flotation of a document pressing portion 38 (S11) once printing processing starts, and then sets a correction coefficient that a correction unit 61 for decision making uses according to the amount of flotation of the document pressing portion 38 (S12). At this time, a correction coefficient is set in a correction unit 62 for generation at the same time, but a correction coefficient which is smaller in edge intensity than the correction coefficient used by the correction unit 61 for decision making is set. Then decision making and printing are started (S13). Consequently, a decision unit 63 can make a suitable decision based upon image data obtained by a CIS 37 and an image forming unit 10 faithfully outputs the image data. COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT
