PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To automatically set an encryption key without input through a PC for an arbitrary pair of communication devices selected by a user. SOLUTION: A communication system has a pair of communication devices A and B which can constitute a local network, and an encryption key is transmitted and received between the communication devices A and B to share the key. Each of the communication devices A and B stores encryption information related to whether encryption operations are completed. In this state, one of the communication devices receives the encryption information from the other device, and then determines whether encryption operations are completed based on the encryption information on both of the devices.
