PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To attain improvement of image quality by suppressing generation of vertical line flaws by suppressing overshoot of a power supply voltage after smear sweeping in a read control method of an imaging element which performs smear sweeping to read out electric charges residual in a transfer path prior to transferring electric charges accumulated in photoelectric transducers of the imaging element to the transfer path.
