A pneumatic tire having a circumferentially continuously extending groove provided in a tread surface of a tread portion of the tire, and also having resonators each composed of an air chamber opened to the surface of a land portion, at a position separated from the circumferential groove, and of a branched groove portion for allowing the air chamber portion to be communicated with the circumferential groove. Secular changes in a tread pattern are moderate without sacrificing the effect of reduction in air column resonance noise. The width of an opening of the branched groove portion to the tread surface of the tread portion is varied in the longitudinal direction of the groove so as to be narrow on the circumferential groove side and wide on the air chamber side.
