PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a steering device for a vehicle that enables a smooth tilt of a steering column, and provides a better steering feel. SOLUTION: Upon a tilt adjustment of a steering column 12, an engaging plate 44 and an elastic body 47 that is integrated with an inner cylinder 46 of an elastic bush 41 are twisted with each other, and the elastic body 47 is elastically deformed. When the elastic body 47 is elastically deformed in the twisted condition, it provides a low rigidity. When an external force in the column axis P direction is inputted to the steering column 12, the elastic body 47 provides a high rigidity against the external force in the column axis P direction. When an external force in the vertical direction is inputted to the steering column 12, the elastic body 47 also provides the high rigidity against the external force in the vertical direction. When an external force to rotate the steering column 12 about the column axis P is inputted, a longer engaging plate 44 of a column-side bracket 40 is coupled to a vehicle body side member 22 in the vehicle width direction.
