The invention relates to a differential gear unit (1), especially for a vehicle, having a differential housing (2) for containing a bevel gear (3) and covering the bevel gear (3) at least radially, wherein the differential housing (2) comprises a carrier element (5) that is supported relatively to a casing (6) by a bearing arrangement (4). To facilitate the compactness and ease of assembly of such a differential gear unit, the carrier element (5) and the differential housing (2) are integrally formed in one piece and the carrier element (5) is arranged at only one side of the differential housing (2).
