PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a photographing apparatus for a vehicle in which an image suitable for image processing such as binarization processing, edge detection processing, etc., is captured while taking into account the effect of light with which a present vehicle is irradiated, and outputted to various image processing devices. SOLUTION: A photographing apparatus 100 for a vehicle comprises a photographing means 2 for photographing the surface of the road around a present vehicle V, a light source direction estimating means 10 for estimating the direction of a light source LS watched from a position of the present vehicle V, and an image correcting means 12 for correcting an image photographed by the photographing means 2, based on the direction of the light source LS estimated by the light source direction estimating means 10. Moreover, the photographing apparatus 100 for the vehicle further includes a shadow range recognizing means 11 for recognizing a range S of the shadow of the present vehicle V formed with light from the light source LS based on the direction of the light source LS estimated by the light source direction estimating means 10, and the image correcting means 12 may also correct the road surface image photographed by the photographing means 2 based on the range S of the shadow recognized by the shadow range recognizing means 11.
