PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a diaphragm driving device capable of photographing a moving image with appropriate exposure even in using a conventional photographing lens equipped with a rod interlocked with a diaphragm. SOLUTION: The diaphragm driving device 17 is provided in a camera body to which a photographing lens including a diaphragm mechanism having a diaphragm interlocked rod to vary a diaphragm value can be mounted, and is equipped with a diaphragm sliding plate 173 for moving the rod 241. The diaphragm driving device 17 includes a diaphragm motor 172 to generate a rotating force, and a lead screw 174 and a lead nut 176 engaged with the lead screw 174, both functioning as a mechanism part for converting the rotating force of the diaphragm motor to the movement of the diaphragm sliding plate 173. If the existing photographing lens to perform a diaphragm control through the use of the rod interlocked with the diaphragm is mounted on the camera body of the present invention, the diaphragm motor 172 controls the rotating position of the rod 241 in accordance with the brightness fluctuation of an object during photographing a moving image in a mirror-up state, and controls the diaphragm value of the photographing lens, consequently, the moving image can be photographed with the appropriate exposure.
