PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a golden crucible for single crystal growing which is not deformed even when it is used for growing a garnet single crystal by a liquid phase epitaxial (LPE) method. SOLUTION: The crucible for single crystal growing is formed of gold or a material containing gold and is characterized by satisfying the expressions: 0.01x≤y≤5.0 and 50<x≤200 [wherein y(mm) is the wall thickness of the crucible; and x(mm) is the inside diameter thereof].
