The invention relates to a system for controlling a power propulsion unit of the hybrid type for a four-wheel-drive automotive vehicle, that comprises at last one electric motor part (3a) and at least one thermal engine part (5) capable of driving the independent front (12) and rear (13) driving axles of the vehicle, characterised in that it comprises means for determining the total torque set point from request of the driver, means (10) for distributing the total torque set point and means (11) for optimising the duty point, in order to dynamically determine the torques to be applied to each of the two driving axles and to optimise the fuel consumption of the power propulsion group (2) according to the driveability requested by the driver and the driving conditions.
